L S LEAP's services are available to everyone regardless of race, creed, color, or economic status. If you or someone you know are in need of psychotherapeutic services, please call LEAP and ask to speak to Dr. Broughan or Dr. Lipovsky. Our phone # is 843-723-0659. Our programs are available on an equal-opportunity basis to those who are able to pay for sessions and to those who require financial aid. We welcome professional referrals and are pleased to consult with and work in conjunction with other psychotherapists. Periodically, LEAP hosts 'Get Acquainted' programs where other professionals may visit the LEAP facilities and have a chance to observe how equine-assisted psychotherapy works. LEAP
uses a variety of planned exercises tailored to each patient’s specific
needs. Following an intake assessment and development of a treatment plan,
LEAP combines the efforts of the therapist, a horse professional, the
patient(s) and the horse to work towards the goals of therapy.
Equine-Assisted therapy can be used with a variety of patients, especially
those who are unable or unwilling to express their feelings in the office
setting. It is non-threatening and engaging. By experimenting with
new approaches to the horse, patients rapidly learn more effective ways of
problem-solving, expressing emotions, coping, and relating to others. The
LEAP approach typically is short-term. It can stand alone or as an
adjunct to ongoing mental health treatment in collaboration with another
primary therapist. LEAP is a psychotherapy modality that uses the natural
qualities of horses to stimulate rapid identification of dysfunctional
behavior patterns, expression of affect, and to provide opportunities for
growth and learning. LEAP
